WE’RE ALL ABOUT AVO’S! NOV-DEC NEWSLETTER

Welcome to our November-December

With the Asian programmes winding down, the focus for export is on Australia and our retail commitments there. All markets have been performing exceptionally well from a value perspective and Jacob and Frank update you in more detail on page 7.

Let’s have a look at some of the numbers mid-season; 167,432 trays exported as of 1 December and 55% through the season plan, 63% sent to Australia, 37% sent to Asia—the Australian percentage will continue to increase from now. Overall size profiles are 31% 16ct – 20ct, 39% 23ct – 25ct, and 30% 28ct – 36ct, with an average fruit size of 24ct. At a 23ct average, fruit size in the Bay of Plenty is larger than the Mid and Far North.

However, the largest single piece of fruit to date was grown in Waiuku by David and Jocelyn French and weighed in at a huge 620grams!Coincidentally this orchard is where we held our first field day in the South Auckland region last month.

It was great to be there adding value to South Auckland’s grower base and it was great to see a huge turn out of new faces considering our current four-strong supplier base there.

Thanks to those who attended the Just Avocados Trust Ltd AGM in Katikati on 22 November, special mention to Monty and Sally Hine, and Grant and Samantha Kokich who travelled from the Far North to attend.

I would like to thank  all of our growers for your support this year and wish you and your family a happy festive season. Happy holidays and happy reading.

Regards,

Jarrod
